Tarot The hierophant is seated between two pillars and wears a triple crown. He signifies the ruling power of religion pertaining to a particular person. He may well be regarded as a guide, spiritual counsel, knowledge, conformity, tradition and faith, which may be underlying the situation at hand. The Hierophant may ideally signify a teacher, preacher or a spiritual guide responsible for imparting moral lessons to you for growth and rising of your spirit. This card may also stand for marriage on the cards or at least a desire for marriage in your mind as well as point to legal decisions and official documents.

The Hierophant may even signify the lessons one has learnt from the occurrence of events in his life. The hierophant advises more on the lines of conventional thinking rather than on modern approach of life.

When the hierophant appears reversed in a reading it signifies a feeling of being bogged down by people' expectations. A feeling of not being able to give enough when the demands are high. It signifies the quirked feeling, which arises in life due to disorderly conduct and a severe crisis of faith and self-confidence. You are in danger of judging a book by its cover, so be on the guard. Trusting someone without a second thought may prove to be hazardous to your growth in your professional life.
